ABOUT
Lotte Koppens (1998, Amsterdam) is a Dutch artist based in Dordrecht. She recently graduated from the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague. Her work is usually psychologically motivated, this is the reason why every project calls for a different technique (state of mind decides what the work needs to be). Koppens’ considers making art almost as a form of exorcism, a way to process whatever that is going on in your subconscious. Making art is a way of defining, understanding, confronting and overcoming. The work starts from a personal narrative, but always connects to broader discourses such as sexuality, intimacy, feminism, hedonism, childhood, abuse and power structures.
Besides her own projects, Lotte is also part of the collective Stoeptroep together with Anika Hochstenbach.
